John and the Apple Tree: A Sweet Lesson in Patience and Planning

One sunny afternoon, a young man named John decided to take a break from his busy day and sit under a large apple tree near his home. As he leaned back and looked up at the sky, a ripe red apple suddenly fell and landed on his head. Startled at first, John picked up the apple and laughed. It was perfectly round, shiny, and smelled delicious. Without thinking twice, he took a bite—and it was one of the best apples he’d ever tasted.

But instead of tossing the core away like most people might, John did something unusual. He carefully saved the seeds.

That evening, John walked into his little backyard garden, dug a few holes, and gently planted the apple seeds. Day after day, he watered the soil, kept weeds at bay, and watched over the spot with great care. His friends saw him spending hours tending to a patch of dirt and couldn’t help but tease him.

“Why waste your time on a tree that won’t even grow?” one of them joked.

But John simply smiled and kept going. He added compost, protected the young saplings from pests, and made sure they had enough sunlight. Weeks turned into months. The tiny shoots eventually grew into a small tree, and even then, John didn’t stop caring for it.

Years passed.

What once was a tiny plant had now grown into a strong apple tree, full of lush green leaves and branches heavy with bright red apples. John could hardly believe his eyes. He sat under the same tree where he once planted those tiny seeds and picked an apple straight from the branch.

It was just as sweet and juicy as the one he had tasted all those years ago.

His friends, who had once mocked him, now watched in awe. Some even asked if they could have a taste. John offered them apples with a smile, remembering how they had laughed at him. But there was no bitterness in his heart—only the sweet satisfaction that comes from patience and hard work.

As he bit into another apple under the cool shade of the tree, John felt proud—not just of the fruit, but of the journey. He had planted a seed of hope, watered it with effort, and now enjoyed its rewards.

Moral of the Story:
It's wise to prepare today for the needs of tomorrow. Even small actions can lead to great outcomes if you nurture them with care and patience.
